A rich, well-balanced medium-strength cigar with a sweet opening, flawless construction, and a smooth wrapper. The first third had almonds, cedar, cinnamon, cocoa, caramel, and a little leather and pepper. The caramel stayed in the finish for quite a while. The middle third became darker, with dark chocolate, cedar, espresso, oak, and walnuts. The final third stayed in the same direction, but the sweetness faded and the profile became more bitter and roasted, while the mouthfeel stayed smooth and never dry. Overall, it wasn’t overly complex, but very enjoyable. Compared with the standard Melanio Robusto, it felt like a more intense version rather than a different blend. There was also more contrast between the thirds, with a clearer shift from a sweet beginning to a darker, coffee-driven finish. I have a whole box, so I’m curious to see how these develop with some time in the humidor.Read the full review →
